WISeKey enlists a Canadian blockchain expert
In its press release announcing the appointment, WISeKey expressed praise for Tapscott’s merits as an authority on emerging technology, citing his authored works and overall role in the blockchain movement.
“I am pleased to welcome Don to our Advisory Board, and look forward to his valuable input and wide counsel,” said WISeKey founder and CEO, Carlos Moreira. “It is hard to imagine anyone who has been more prolific, profound and influential in explaining the digital revolution and its impact on the world than Don.”
As WISeKey mentioned, Tapscott’s merits include the fact that he has authored 16 books, including Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything. Tapscott co-authored one of the blockchain industry’s best sellers, Blockchain Revolution: How the Technology Underlying Bitcoin is Changing Business, Money and the World with his son, Alex Tapscott.
“I am confident that Don’s unique background and extensive experience in building and anticipating the future of the Internet will play a vital role in our efforts to deploy our Digital Identification Blockchain strategy worldwide,” Moreira added.
Canada – and Don Tapscott – bolster the international blockchain scene
As a company that calls itself a leading global cybersecurity company, emerging technology is a large part of WISeKey’s identity. Its cryptographic systems aim to provide secure authentication and identification for the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, and blockchain technology.
“I am looking forward in assisting WISeKey’s management team and being part of the continued success of the company by bringing my experience to the advisory committee,” said Tapscott.
As WISeKey explores effective ways to further integrate blockchain technology as a “trust anchor” for online transactions, advisors like Tapscott look to guide the company moving forward.
Ultimately, Tapscott’s collaboration with WISeKey for the purpose of furthering the blockchain movement re-affirms Canada’s role in the global landscape. The Blockchain Research Institute, an organization co-founded by Tapscott, is one of Canada’s leading institutions dedicated to blockchain. Today, it continues to investigate real-world applications for blockchain technology.
Previously, the institute enlisted new members like Salesforce and Decentral to its growing roster of partnering institutions in both Canada and abroad.
